“Sunset in Langkawi, Malaysia”
Jared Thompson (ETA 2016-17)
This issue’s contest theme was placement cities and showing off where you live or lived during your grant year in South Korea.
Eugene Lee shares this photo with us, saying, “My favorite thing about Jeongeup (Jeollabuk-do) so far has been the long trail by the river, where people walk, run, or bike to soak in the nature around them. It’s definitely been a good place to get away from everything for a bit!”
This issue’s theme is near and dear to our stomachs: nomz (sustenance)
We asked for you to show us your favorite food(s) you’ve eaten during your grant year in Korea, and you didn’t disappoint!
This photo was submitted by Bijou Nguyen, ETA 2014-15.
Her caption: “Make your own bibimbap” in Sejong.
Remember the chaos of starting a semester with a brand new set of students? How about the times your students stopped you for the occasional selfie while running around in the hallways? We want to highlight these moments and thus the theme for this contest is “Snapshot of the School Year”.
This photo was submitted by Mike Roderick, ETA 2015-16.
His caption: “준비 되었나요? – junbi doeeossnayo? = Are you ready?”

In Karl’s words, “I took this photo near Hwacheon, South Korea, during the 2014 orientation trip out there. Sometimes it’s easy to forget there’s more to the DMZ than the North and South Korean soldiers facing off, and I think this image serves as a nice reminder of the natural beauty you can find at the border.”
